Costume Construction Studio

Fall Semester 2014 I took a course called PMA 3615 – Costume Construction Studio. We learned how to research historic costume from specific eras and pick out the main style features of that period. We chose a garment based on a painting or actual museum photos then reproduced half of the garment in muslin with the necessary undergarments to build a period accurate shape.

I recreated: an Elizabethan garment from c.1570, a French polonaise from c.1780, and an ensemble from the House of Worth c.1893.
