1st Browzwear Project PDF Download
This is my first project using Browzwear. I learned how draping, using physics to get the draping to fall properly, and using elasticity and stiffener where appropriate.
The first draft of the dress had darts but the darts kept coming to a point so I extended the darts to seams. The fit does rely a little too much on stretch but the seams are straight and aren’t overly swinging in unexpected directions.
The hip drape piece is deceptively hard to drape. It was difficult to translate what I’d do when my hands and fabric into a digital drape. I ended up using pleats to get it drape and using physics to make the fabric heavy.
I made sandals to go with the theme of the dress. I built them in 4 hours so they aren’t the most sophisticated. Because of the time constraint, I didn’t get a chance to make the sole of the shoe look thick enough but it was good enough for a first try.
This is the original dress with darts. I had to scrap this design and extend the darts into seams/ style lines. Notice the hip drape piece. It doesn’t lie down flat and had to be manipulated extensively. Also see how pointy the darts are even when the dress is tightened.
